A basic list of kitchen essentials would have several items.  Based on numerous reviews, the following kitchen things are recommended:

1.  Knives – One of the most basic cooking tools.  The 3-Piece Chef’s Knife Set from Paula Deen has been highly rated by reviewers at both Wayfair and Amazon.  Great quality and not very expensive.

2.  Cutting board – The Architec 11×14 Original Gripper “The Gripper” Cutting Board, Orange/Light Orangehas received rave reviews.  Not expensive and it is safe – it does not slip!  Available in several colors.

3.  Measuring cups and spoons – The Progressive GT-3520 International 19-Piece Measuring Cup and Spoon Set is a fabulous deal!  More measuring cups and spoons than you will ever need and for a very low price.  Use the extra bowls as prep bowls.  For measuring hot liquids, a Pyrex Prepware 2-Cup Measuring Cup, Clear with Red Measurements is the “old reliable.”

4.  Mixing/serving bowl set – The Pyrex Prepware 3-Piece Mixing Bowl Set is a great value and the bowls are nice enough to be used as serving bowls.  Of course, Pyrex bowls can go in the oven, microwave, freezer, dishwasher – anywhere!

Review - All-Clad 3-Piece Stainless Steel Canister Set

All-Clad is one of the top brands of kitchenware and this canister set definitely lives up to its reputation.  Stainless steel construction makes these canisters not only very sturdy, but also very beautiful.  Of course, stainless steel will show smudges and finger prints very readily, but All-Clad canisters are no different in that regard than any other stainless steel surface whether it is a countertop, fridge, whatever.  Similarly, some customers complained that the lids were too tight and were hard to remove.  However, that is simply a sign of very precise construction plus seals that are meant to do just that – seal.  One user actually removed the seals from some of the canisters so that the lids would not fit so tightly.  Unfortunately, that defeats the purpose of the seals – these canisters are designed to seal very tightly so that the material stored inside is kept fresh.

The complete set is comprised of three canisters – 3.5, 4.5, and 5.75 quart.  Users were almost unanimous in liking the sizes.  Often the two larger sizes are used to store 5 pound quantities of something like sugar or flour.  The smallest size could be used for coffee beans or some other dry good that is packaged in relatively small quantities.  Reviewers were also pleased by the extra space in each canister – enough usually to allow scoops or measuring cups to be stored inside.  The glass tops are not only very attractive, but allow the material inside to be seen.
